The primary mission of the St. Marys Planning & Building Department is to promote and implement City policies and programs that preserve community character and ensure the highest quality of life through effective and efficient use of the Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Regulations, City Codes, Building Codes and Property Maintenance Codes.
The Planning Department guides the physical development of the City through the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations. The Planning Department can also assist you with Occupational Tax licenses, sign regulations, floodplain development, and other miscellaneous development issues.
The St. Marys Building Department is responsible for the review of plans and issuance of building permits for all residential and commercial construction and remodeling projects with the City. The department conducts inspections of construction projects to insure compliance with International Code Council codes and local codes and ordinances.
